- Washington lacks the will to effectively protest human
- rights abuse in China (WORLD, March 13). The squashing of
- dissident Fang Lizhi and the killing of Tibetans are merely the
- latest examples of inhumanity typical of the Chinese Communist
- Party. George Bush has raised only the wimpiest voice in
- objection. It will be up to us to protest. China desperately
- needs foreign currency, a major source of which is tourist
- dollars. Americans should renounce travel to China until it
- stops brutalizing its own people.
